Easiest way to get rid of tree stumps, is to get a stump grinder.

It may be a little intimating at first, but it’s actually pretty easy and kinda fun.

When I was a kid we would use a hand auger to drill holes in stumps like the ones in the thumbnail.

We would then pour salt in the holes and refill them when needed.

These would become deer magnets once they realized there was salt to be had.

It seems like we would do this in ash, poplars and basswood stumps primarily because the wood was soft and after a very short time the deer could chew inoto the wood as it broke down.

Very helpful tips and hacks.We set a smaller stump than that on fire once and the roots were still smoldering several years later when we moved. Makes a very interesting smell.
