Somehow my dad ended up with it, where it sat for years under the workbench. Don’t remember my dad ever using it – the saw wouldn’t let him.

It actually cuts surprisingly fast , i can imagine how fast it will cut when the saw is maintained and the engine is working in order..

It’s a reciprocating saw, I think black and decker or dewalt make one that runs off electric that works pretty well but it doesn’t have the top cover over the blade, it’s similar to a regular saw blade that goes back and forth at high revs.

I had one of those its a reciprocating saw , many butchers still use them when halving an animal on site.I know this old beast it is a Wright reciprocating saw!

Cheers from northwest Canada. If I had to guess this is pre 1960 and probably closer to 1950. I’d also guess there’s a reason they don’t make ’em like this anymore!

Just got to fix it up a little it’ll be good, lube it, sharpen the blade, and make sure the engine is cleaned up and it’s all good.Yes made in fifty’s were 4 stroke made for vertical cutting.

When sharp and running right would out cut chain hands down. Ours would cut mesquite 10 to twelve hours a day sharpen with file once a day.

chainsaw as many people have stated all ready, but it’s a pile of junk and would have been easier using handsaw even back in those day.I can see why they invented the chain instead of reciprocating as lot more efficient at cutting
