I have loved draglines and excavators, since I was a toddler, over 65 years ago. These machines are products of great engineering.
I can’t help but think of the old cable and winch operated draglines and shovels, which were great engineering accomplishments, in their own rights.
The Big Muskie dragline had a 225 yard bucket, and would make these machines look like toys.
Sadly, it was scrapped decades ago.I worked in heavy equipment off and on between layoffs for 10 years at a nuclear plant in SC.
But in all that time I never saw anything that compared to these giants. If they had equipment anything close to this where I worked many of the operators would have been happy campers to operate equipment that size.
I used to work at a mine in Minnesota that had one of those komatsu’s the video doesn’t do it justice!
