My Dad was the son of a lumber mill owner and grew up around wood and what it could be used for. He made us all kinds of things when my sister, brother and I were growing up, and he had all the special woodshop tools to create the most marvelous things.
300 years of creation and many more years of the display of its inner beauty if the pieces are used for furniture or art installations.
for posting Belko Wood.Many years ago we had an oak tree down near the farm pond that towered over everything. One day during a very heavy storm it fell over. It’s limbs alone provided a little lumber and a lot of firewood.
The trunk at the 4 foot level was over 5.5 feet across. Nobody thought to count the rings for many years. The last remnant minus the outer 4-5 inches was at least 375 years old.
I would love to have one of those slabs to make a coffee table. I’m trying to find a place in Johnson County, Kansas that would sell something like that that would cost me an arm and a leg. Anybody out there who could tell me where I could find pieces like that.
